Founded by Samantha, The Rio House brings professional executive recruiting experience together with firsthand experience helping family and friends find nannies they could trust. You work directly with a recruiter who understands how personal this decision is.

The Rio House offers a focused, hands-on search designed around your family, your priorities, and the kind of care that makes daily life easier.
What Your Placement Fee Includes
A personalized search, initial candidate interviews, professional reference-check coordination, background screening coordination, candidate introductions, interview scheduling, and guidance through the hiring decision. A $250 search deposit is credited toward the $3,000 preferred placement fee, with $2,750 due upon a successful hire; nanny wages and household employment costs are separate.
How We Review Candidates
We discuss each candidate's experience, availability, responsibilities, and fit for your household. Our process starts with an interview about childcare experience, ages cared for, responsibilities, availability, and family fit. We coordinate professional reference checks and background screening before a placement is finalized, and tell you which checks have been completed and which are pending. We can discuss CPR/first-aid qualifications and request supporting documentation where relevant; we do not assume every candidate holds a current certification. No screening process can guarantee future conduct.

Hiring With Confidence
Families make the final hiring decision and agree directly with their caregiver on duties, compensation, schedule, and employment terms. We recommend a written work agreement and appropriate household payroll guidance.

PREFERRED PLACEMENT RATE
$3,000Flat placement fee for live-in, full-time or part-time nanny placements
Newborn care and postpartum doula placements start at $500.
$250 to begin your search
A $250 nonrefundable search deposit is due when you begin your search and is credited toward the $3,000 preferred placement fee. The remaining $2,750 is due only upon a successful hire. Standard placement fee: $5,000.
Caregiver wages, payroll costs, and any separately agreed third-party expenses are not included. The preferred rate is available for a limited time. Full terms will be provided in your written placement agreement before the search begins.

What does candidate screening involve?
Our Rio House Match Method combines interviews, experience review, professional references, authorized background screening, and family matching. Applicable screening is completed before a paid working trial.
Can we interview candidates and arrange a trial?
Yes. We help coordinate candidate introductions and interviews. A working trial can be arranged when both parties agree on the schedule and compensation.
How long will my search take?
Timelines vary based on location, schedule, responsibilities, and the type of caregiver you need. We'll discuss realistic expectations after learning about your family's search.
Do you work with families outside Los Angeles?
Yes. The Rio House works with families nationwide, with a particular focus on live-in nanny searches.
Who employs and pays the nanny?
The family hires and compensates its caregiver directly. We encourage families to use a written work agreement and consult a qualified household payroll provider regarding their obligations.
What happens if a placement doesn't work out?
Eligible placements include one replacement search within the first 60 days, subject to the signed agreement. See “Support Beyond the Introduction” below for details.

If your placed nanny leaves or the placement ends within the first 60 days, we offer one replacement search, subject to the eligibility, notice, and other terms in your signed placement agreement. This is a replacement search, not a refund or guarantee of a particular outcome.
Full terms are provided in your written placement agreement before any payment.
